Jayapura, Papua – The Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua) held an audience between Deputy Chief Brig. Gen. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani and the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) to discuss developments and strategies for maintaining stability following the 2025 gubernatorial election. The meeting took place at the Cenderawasih Hall of Papua Police Headquarters in Jayapura on Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2025).
The session was attended by Papua Police supervisory inspector Kombes Pol. Jeremias Rontini, senior police officials, and MRP Special Committee Chair Izak Yohokabi. The dialogue focused on political dynamics, security concerns, and public issues arising after the election.
Yohokabi praised the police for safeguarding stability, while highlighting the spread of disinformation, including social media rumors such as the so-called “Type X Governor,” which he warned could trigger unrest.
“We hope Polda Papua and MRP will continue working together to preserve unity and provide a cooling system for society,” he said.
Brig. Gen. Ramadhani noted that Papua Police have launched Operasi Mantap Praja to secure the election process, including the repeat voting stage. He added that the dispute remains under review by the Constitutional Court, with a ruling expected on Sept. 10.
“We urge all parties to maintain a conducive environment. The police are committed to addressing public concerns through preventive measures and law enforcement,” he said.
Senior officers also briefed participants on field conditions and efforts to counter disinformation online. Papua Police spokesperson Kombes Pol. Cahyo Sukarnito stressed the importance of promoting positive messaging and invited the MRP to collaborate in spreading calming narratives.
The one-hour dialogue concluded with an agreement to strengthen cooperation between Papua Police and the MRP in safeguarding post-election security and public order.
