Jayapura Garda Cancels Planned Peaceful Demonstration, Citing Security Concerns

Jayapura – The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the United Alliance of Two-Wheel Associations (Garda) in Jayapura City has officially canceled its planned peaceful demonstration.

The decision was announced by Djerry C. Zaunga, Chairman of Garda Jayapura City, on Tuesday, September 31, 2025, citing the need to maintain public security and order in Jayapura.

In his statement, Djerry emphasized that although the demonstration was intended to promote peace and public safety, it carried the risk of triggering situations that could undermine the participants’ good intentions.

“This action was originally meant to uphold security and public order in Jayapura. However, to prevent any unwanted incidents that could harm all of us, we have agreed to cancel the demonstration,” Djerry explained.

He further noted that the cancellation is a preventive step to safeguard stability in Jayapura.

“That is all I can convey. Thank you and my apologies. For the sake of the common good, the peaceful demonstration will not go forward,” he concluded.
