Jayapura – The Chairman of the Maluku Family Association in Papua (IKEMAL), Christian Sohilait, has called on all Maluku residents in Papua to uphold public order and avoid being provoked.
In his statement, Sohilait emphasized that the community must refrain from acts of violence, vandalism, or clashes with security forces. He also reminded the public to be vigilant against hoaxes and to use social media responsibly by sharing calming and constructive information.
IKEMAL further encouraged the community to support the government, the military (TNI), and the police in maintaining smooth development. Sohilait added that sustaining small businesses, motorcycle taxis, ride-hailing services, and micro-enterprises is also a vital part of collective stability.
The public was also urged to immediately report any suspicious activities to the nearest security authorities.
“We close this appeal with a message of brotherhood: let all Maluku brothers and sisters in Papua remain united in preserving peace and security in the region,” Sohilait stated.
