Wamena, Highland Papua – The Peace Cartenz Task Force carried out the transfer of suspect Ivan Kabak along with evidence (Phase II) to the Jayawijaya District Attorney’s Office, Wamena Regency, on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 09:40 AM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT).
This handover followed the completion of the investigation, with the case files deemed complete (P-21). The suspect is charged with attempted premeditated murder, assault, and other related articles under the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
The escort process began on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Yahukimo Police Resort. After completing several administrative procedures, the suspect was flown using Trigana Air to Sentani, where he was temporarily detained at the Airport Sector Police Detention Center. The following day, Friday (August 29, 2025), he was again flown to Wamena and immediately taken to the Jayawijaya District Attorney’s Office for the Phase II handover.
The transfer proceeded safely and orderly until completion at 5:35 PM WIT. The public prosecutor handling the case is Yeyen Erwino, S.H. The evidence handed over included one Honda Beat motorcycle, a flash drive containing video recordings, an Oppo A60 mobile phone, clothing worn by the suspect, and two river stones.
Peace Cartenz Operation Chief, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the execution of Phase II reflects the commitment of law enforcement officers to uphold the law professionally and transparently.
“The legal process must be conducted honestly and accountably. Handing over the suspect and evidence to the prosecutor’s office is a crucial step to ensure the trial proceeds without delay,” he emphasized.
Deputy Chief of Peace Cartenz Operation, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum, added that close coordination between the police and the prosecutor’s office is essential to ensure the case is resolved in accordance with legal provisions.
“With solid cooperation, every case can be thoroughly handled and provide legal certainty for all parties involved,” he said.
“Throughout the escort and handover process, the situation remained safe and conducive. We have also formally notified the suspect’s family about Phase II,” he concluded.
