Jayapura, Thursday, August 29, 2025 – The National Institute of Public Administration of the Republic of Indonesia (LAN RI) has urged regional government officials in Papua to improve innovation in public service delivery. The call was made during a civil servant development program held in Jayapura yesterday.
The Head of LAN RI emphasized that innovation is a key driver in realizing fast, efficient, and equitable public services, especially in regions with unique geographical and social challenges like Papua. He stated that innovation is not limited to the use of technology but also includes simplifying procedures, changing work patterns, and adopting a more responsive approach to community needs.
LAN RI is committed to supporting local governments through training programs, technical assistance, and the facilitation of innovation development tailored to local characteristics. Regional leaders are expected to act as agents of change by fostering a work culture that is adaptive, creative, and results-oriented.
“Papua has its own unique context that cannot be compared directly to other regions. It requires context-based and innovative solutions to ensure public services are delivered fairly and inclusively,” said the Head of LAN RI in his remarks.
This initiative aligns with the national bureaucratic reform agenda, which prioritizes improving the quality of public services as a key indicator of effective and accountable governance. Local initiatives developed in Papua are also expected to serve as best practice models that can be replicated in other regions across Indonesia.
