Handover of Suspect and Evidence: Ivan Kabak Transferred to Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office Without Incident

Wamena, Papua Highlands – The Cartenz Peace Task Force has officially handed over suspect Ivan Kabak along with case evidence (Stage II) to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office, Wamena Regency, on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 09:40 WIT.

The handover followed the declaration of a complete case file (P-21) in the investigation against Kabak. He has been charged under the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) with attempted premeditated murder, assault, and other related offenses.

The escort process began on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Yahukimo District Police. After completing administrative procedures, the suspect was flown via Trigana Air to Sentani, where he was temporarily held at the Airport Police Detention Center. On the following day, Friday, August 29, 2025, Kabak was transferred to Wamena and directly delivered to the Jayawijaya District Prosecutor’s Office for Stage II proceedings.

The handover was completed smoothly and securely by 17:35 WIT. Prosecutor Yeyen Erwino, S.H., is assigned to handle the case. Items of evidence submitted include a Honda Beat motorcycle, a flash drive containing video recordings, an Oppo A60 mobile phone, the clothing worn by the suspect, and two river stones.

Brig. Gen. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, emphasized that the Stage II handover reflects law enforcement’s commitment to justice.

“Legal proceedings in this case must be carried out transparently and professionally. The transfer of the suspect and evidence to the prosecutor’s office is a key step toward ensuring the trial process begins promptly,” he stated.

Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Sr. Comr. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum, also underlined the importance of strong coordination between police and prosecutors in resolving cases according to the law.

“With effective synergy, every case can be handled thoroughly, providing legal certainty for all parties,” he noted.

“Throughout the escort and handover process, everything proceeded safely and in an orderly manner. We have also formally notified the suspect’s family regarding the Stage II proceedings,” he concluded.
