Papua NU Leader Urges Religious Communities to Preserve Harmony After Repeat Election

Jayapura, Papua – The Provincial Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) in Papua has called on all religious communities to safeguard interfaith harmony in the aftermath of the repeat gubernatorial election (PSU).

PWNU Papua Chairman Dr. Toni Wanggai urged the public not to be provoked by hate speech or religious insults circulating on social media.

“We do not need to take matters into our own hands. Let the authorities handle everything in accordance with the law,” he said in a public statement.

Toni reminded both Muslim and Christian communities to remain calm and continue nurturing the spirit of coexistence that has long been maintained in Papua.

“We are all committed to building Papua as a Land of Peace. May God Almighty continue to bless us all,” he concluded.
