Call to Safeguard Peace in Papua, Public Urged to Beware of Hoaxes

Jayapura – The public is urged to continue maintaining security and peace in Papua to support regional development and prosperity. This appeal was conveyed by Mark J. Dwemanser, a local resident and peace advocate.

He emphasized the need for vigilance against misinformation, fake news, and hate speech that could potentially divide unity. “We must join hands to realize a better and more progressive Papua,” said Dwemanser.

Dwemanser also reminded individuals to play an active role in maintaining order within their communities, including in online spaces. “Be wise in responding to information. Do not easily spread unverified news, as it may cause unrest in society,” he added.

Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of collective spirit, unity, and solidarity in advancing Papua’s progress. He expressed hope that traditional leaders and youth would take the lead in safeguarding social harmony.

“Security and peace are the key foundations for development in Papua to move forward in a massive and structured way. This will allow people to live in greater peace and prosperity,” Dwemanser concluded.
