Kenyam, Highland Papua – A joyful atmosphere filled Kampung Yunad, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, as dozens of children took part in reading, writing, arithmetic, and coloring activities facilitated by the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force in collaboration with the Nduga Police’s Community Development Unit (Binmas) on Thursday afternoon (August 21, 2025).
The program, held from 3:00 to 5:20 p.m. local time, is part of a continuous community outreach initiative by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in Papua’s remote areas. The session was led by Nduga Police Community Development Chief, IPDA Laurens Rumansara, alongside personnel from the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force.
Cartenz Peace Operation Commander, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, accompanied by Deputy Commander Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, emphasized that Polri’s role extends beyond security enforcement. “We are here not only to maintain security but also to respond to basic needs, particularly in children’s education. These children are the future of Papua,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cartenz Task Force Spokesperson, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, highlighted that the initiative is part of Polri’s commitment to building stronger emotional bonds with Papuan communities. He noted that direct, human-centered engagement helps strengthen long-term stability in the region.
Using a playful learning approach, children not only gained basic literacy skills but also felt the warmth and care of police officers. Laughter and excitement colored the entire session, which concluded with group photos and friendly interaction.
Local residents welcomed the program with enthusiasm and gratitude. “We are very happy. Our children can learn and feel cared for. Thank you to the police,” said one community member.
Through this human-centered initiative, Polri, via the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force and Nduga Police, continues to foster peace while nurturing the next generation of Papua.
