Police Instill Spirit of Learning in Children of Kampung Yunad Through a Humanistic Approach

Kenyam – Dozens of children from Kampung Yunad, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, Highland Papua, were visibly enthusiastic as they took part in reading, writing, arithmetic, and coloring activities organized by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, in collaboration with the Community Development Unit of Nduga Police, on Thursday afternoon (August 21, 2025).

The educational program, held from 3:00 PM to 5:20 PM local time (WIT), is part of an ongoing community development initiative consistently carried out by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in Papua’s remote areas. The Head of Community Development Unit of Nduga Police, IPDA Laurens Rumansara, directly led the field activities, accompanied by personnel from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 and the Nduga Police.

The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by the Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that Polri is committed to not only ensuring public safety but also responding to the needs of local communities, particularly in Papua.

“Through activities like this, we want to show that Polri is not only present to maintain security, but also to be part of the solution to community needs — especially in supporting children’s education in remote areas. They are the future generation of Papua,” said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.

The Head of Public Relations of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., also added that the initiative reflects Polri’s commitment to building emotional bonds with the people of Papua through meaningful, personal interactions.

“We believe that a direct and heartfelt approach to the community, especially to children, can strengthen emotional ties between Polri and local residents. This is also part of a long-term strategy to build lasting stability in Papua,” he said.

This activity aimed to spark children’s interest in learning, strengthen basic literacy from an early age, and foster trust and emotional closeness between police officers and the local community. By using a learning-through-play method, children not only gained essential knowledge but also experienced warmth and care from Polri personnel.

Throughout the event, the children enthusiastically participated in every session. Their cheerful laughter and bright smiles filled the atmosphere as they read, wrote, and colored alongside the police officers. The program concluded with friendly interactions and a group photo session, further strengthening the emotional connection between the community and law enforcement.

Residents of Kampung Yunad warmly welcomed the initiative. Many expressed their gratitude for the attention given to their children.

“We are very happy. Our children are able to learn and feel cared for. Thank you to the police officers,” said one local resident.

With a spirit of humanity and genuine service, the Indonesian National Police, through Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, continues to show that maintaining peace also means nurturing the future — especially for the children of Papua.
