Jayapura – The Papua High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Papua) has emphasized that the handling of the alleged corruption case related to the construction of the Aerosport Venue in Mimika, valued at Rp79 billion and used for the 20th Papua National Sports Week (PON XX) in 2021, is being carried out professionally and free from political interference.
The statement was conveyed by the Assistant for Special Crimes of the Papua High Prosecutor’s Office, Nixon Nikolaus Nilla Mahuse, in response to public doubts regarding the possibility of certain interests influencing the case.
Nixon underlined that the entire investigation process is based on valid evidence. All stages, from the determination of suspects, searches, to the seizure of evidence, have been conducted in accordance with legal procedures.
“The determination of suspects, the seizure of evidence, and the searches that have been conducted were all in line with procedure. We are free from interference and are not driven by any particular interests. We are independent,” Nixon affirmed in a press release on Monday (August 18).
