Nabire – The Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 Task Force successfully apprehended Siprianus Weya, a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya alias Daniel Kogoya, at the Topo Police Sector, Nabire Regency, on Wednesday (August 20) at approximately 5:55 PM local time.
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by the Deputy Head of Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., explained that the arrest was connected to the murder case of Brigpol Arif Maulana and Bripda Nelson Runaki in Nabire.
According to Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, Siprianus Weya acted as a documenter for the KKB led by Aibon Kogoya in the shooting incident at KM 128, Siriwo District, on August 13, 2025. A video statement from the group was recorded using a mobile phone, which has now been secured as evidence, before being sent to Yosua Waker through the WhatsApp application.
In addition to Siprianus, five other individuals were also apprehended: Jemi Mirip, Botanus Agimbau, Meinus Mirip, Yupinus Weya, and Melianus Mirip. The Operation Peace Cartenz Task Force also seized several pieces of evidence, including jackets, traditional woven bags (noken), mobile phones, and other personal belongings.
From the investigation results, it was revealed that Siprianus Weya was part of the media division of KKB Kodap III D Dulla, operating across Intan Jaya Regency and Paniai Regency. He was also reportedly involved in the shooting that killed two police officers and in the seizure of two firearms belonging to the victims.
The Head of Public Relation of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, urged the public not to be provoked and to maintain security in their respective areas.
“We call on all residents of Nabire Regency not to be easily influenced by misleading issues and to always maintain a safe and conducive public order situation. Entrust the entire law enforcement process to the Operation Peace Cartenz Task Force and the police authorities,” he stated.
