Yapen-Serui — The Chairman of the Saireri Customary Council, Sopater Ayomi, has called on communities across the Saireri customary region to work hand in hand in maintaining public security and order (Kamtibmas) following the Papua gubernatorial election re-run on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
Ayomi stressed that a peaceful and stable environment is the shared aspiration of all Papuans, urging residents to prevent any disturbances that could disrupt daily life. “A calm and comfortable life is our collective desire,” he said.
He further reminded the public not to be swayed by provocations or divisive narratives spread by irresponsible parties, warning that such issues could fracture unity and interfere with community activities.
According to Ayomi, peacebuilding is not solely the responsibility of security forces but a shared duty of all elements of society. He underscored the importance of solidarity across ethnic, religious, and cultural lines in order to preserve Papua’s stability.
“To all people of Papua, let us continue to stand together, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, or culture, in safeguarding lasting peace and security,” he added.
