Jayapura — The Papua Regional Police have called on all residents of Papua Province to work together in maintaining security and public order following the re-run of the Papua gubernatorial election on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
The appeal was conveyed directly by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Papua Police, Police Commissioner Cahyo Sukarnito, S.I.K., M.K.P., in Jayapura. He emphasized the importance of community participation in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
“We urge all layers of society to maintain the already conducive situation. Do not be easily provoked by false information, hate speech, or hoaxes circulating on social media. Let’s filter before sharing,” he stressed.
Commissioner Cahyo further underlined that unity and togetherness are key to keeping Papua peaceful. He expressed hope that communities would continue to show mutual respect and contribute to sustaining public safety across the province.
“We hope the people will maintain unity, respect one another, and work hand in hand to keep Papua safe and peaceful. Security is the key to regional development and the people’s welfare,” he added.
The Papua Police reiterated that ensuring security is not solely the duty of law enforcement, but a shared responsibility of all societal elements. By safeguarding public order, Papua is expected to move forward and prosper in the post-election period.
