Jayapura — Following the repeat gubernatorial election (PSU) in Papua Province, Lambert Pekikir, a prominent figure and initiator of the “Keerom Peace” movement, expressed his appreciation to the people of Keerom Regency for helping maintain security and order throughout the democratic process.
Lambert emphasized that the peaceful and orderly conduct of the PSU was the result of cooperation among election organizers, security forces, and active community participation. He expressed hope that this stable situation would continue through the remaining stages of the electoral process.
“I thank the people of Keerom for keeping order during the PSU. This proves that we can practice democracy peacefully, without intimidation and without violence,” Lambert said.
As a peace advocate, he also urged the public to refrain from provocative actions that could trigger division. He stressed that whatever the outcome of the PSU, it must be accepted sincerely in the interest of unity and Papua’s future.
“Let us preserve unity. Do not be provoked by issues that could divide us. The PSU results are the people’s choice, and we must all respect that,” he affirmed.
Lambert concluded that the post-PSU moment offers an opportunity for all elements of Papuan society to strengthen their shared commitment to building the region peacefully and with dignity.
