Mambramo Raya, August 15, 2025 — Papuan religious leader Pastor Jhon Bunay has issued a heartfelt call for peace to the people of Mambramo Raya and Papua following the revote for the Governor of Papua Province. In his statement, Pastor Bunay emphasized the importance of maintaining order and avoiding conflict during this ongoing democratic process.
In his message, Pastor Bunay encouraged all citizens to respond to the election results with wisdom and calm. He stressed that if there are concerns or allegations of misconduct, the public should submit data and reports to the appropriate authorities, such as the General Elections Commission (KPU), for verification.
“There’s no need to cause chaos. If the atmosphere turns sour, everyone will be affected,” he said firmly.
He also reminded the public that each candidate has their own campaign team and supporters, and that potential conflicts between groups must be avoided to preserve social harmony.
Pastor Bunay emphasized that winning and losing are natural parts of any democratic process. He called on the community to accept the results with an open heart and to continue supporting the elected governor, regardless of who wins.
“Let’s keep peace in our hearts. Let’s use positive thinking to support everyone. Whoever the governor is, he is our governor,” he said.
In closing, Pastor Bunay reminded the people that Papua is the Land of the Gospel, and therefore, its citizens should live with love, patience, and a commitment to peace.
