Biak Numfor, Papua — The Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of the Red and White Front of the Republic of Indonesia (DPC BMP-RI) in Biak Numfor Regency, Frids Semuel Arfayanm, has called on the people of Papua to safeguard security and public order in the aftermath of the re-vote for the Governor of Papua Province.
In his statement, Frids stressed the importance of maturity and wisdom in responding to the election results, urging all elements of society not to be provoked by issues that could divide unity.
“Elections are part of the democratic process. We must all respect the outcome and work to maintain social stability for a safe and peaceful future for Papua,” Frids told the media on Friday (Aug. 15, 2025).
He also reminded the public that differences in political preference are natural, but should never become a reason for triggering horizontal conflict within the community.
Frids invited all community leaders, religious leaders, youth, and civil society organizations in Papua to work together in creating a conducive environment and supporting a healthy democratic process.
“We must stand united, respect one another, and protect Papua as our shared home. Let’s not allow political differences to damage the brotherhood we’ve built,” he emphasized.
This appeal is in line with various peace calls from other local figures who are also overseeing the re-vote process in various regions of Papua.
With a spirit of togetherness and love for the homeland, Frids expressed his hope that Papuans can serve as an example in maintaining peace after the election, and in supporting whoever is elected as governor with a constructive and positive attitude.
