JAYAPURA, INDONESIA – The Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua) have once again rolled out their Gerakan Pangan Murah (Affordable Food Movement) to stabilize rice supply and prices in the community. The latest event took place on Wednesday (13 August 2025) at the residence of the Head of Neighborhood Unit 03, Subdistrict Tanjung Ria, Jayapura Utara District.
A total of 400 sacks of rice were prepared for residents, distributed in two stages. The first batch, consisting of 70 sacks, was sold on-site at affordable prices. To ensure fair distribution and prevent stockpiling, purchases were limited to a maximum of two sacks per national ID card.
Bripka (Brigadier Police) Rio Eman Ratu Banum Siebinef, representing the Community Police Officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) Subdivision of Polda Papua, said the initiative was warmly welcomed by residents.
“Today we carried out the Affordable Food Movement here in the neighborhood head’s yard. Each person could purchase up to two sacks per ID card. The enthusiasm was remarkable—many people queued even before we arrived. This shows the program truly meets a real need,” Bripka Rio said.
Local resident Mina Dwaramuri from RT 02 RW 03 expressed her gratitude.
“We thank the National Police Chief, the Papua Police Chief, and all police personnel in Papua Province. This affordable rice program really helps us amid the rising rice prices. We hope it will continue, and we pray for the success of all officers,” she said.
The event in Tanjung Ria ran smoothly, in a warm and friendly atmosphere between police and residents.
The program not only helps reduce economic pressures but also strengthens ties between law enforcement and the public.
The second batch of 430 sacks—each containing 5 kilograms—will be distributed at other designated locations according to the schedule.
Polda Papua has pledged to continue the Affordable Food Movement across various regions so that the benefits can be enjoyed by communities throughout Papua.
