Papua Teangah – On Tuesday (August 12, 2025), hundreds of residents of Nabire gathered at the starting line for a 10-kilometer running event organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
The race began at the Old Nabire Airport, then traversed a route passing through RSUD Nabire, and concluded at the finish area, symbolizing community solidarity in celebrating this historic day.
This event was a collaboration of Central Papua Province government and carried the theme “Running Together, Recover Faster, Rise Stronger,” which reflects the spirit of unity and efforts toward post-pandemic recovery.

“With 600 participants from various backgrounds, this shows the high enthusiasm of the people in welcoming Independence Day,” Nawipa said as he released the runners.
He also reminded all participants to uphold sportsmanship, respect fellow runners, and comply with the organizers’ regulations to ensure smooth and safe proceedings.
Nawipa also expressed appreciation to the organizing committee, sponsors such as Bank Papua and Aquavit, as well as security personnel and medical staff supporting the event’s success.
“Let’s make this race a success together. Happy running, keep the spirit high, and prioritize safety,” he concluded, encouraging the participants.
