Puncak Regency Prepares a Golden Generation to Build a Better Future

Jayapura – The Government of Puncak Regency, Central Papua, is committed to shaping a brighter future for the region by improving the quality of human resources (HR) through strategic programs, including a flagship scholarship initiative.

Puncak Regent Elvis Tabuni stated that the future of the region is built in classrooms that nurture educated generations. “We have introduced the Puncak Cerdas Scholarship Program to provide indigenous Papuan students with the opportunity to pursue their dreams—whether as doctors, teachers, or other professions essential for Puncak’s development,” he said in a written statement from Jayapura on Friday.

According to him, this effort reflects the local government’s determination to prepare a golden generation that will one day drive progress in the region. In addition to the flagship scholarship, the Puncak Regency Government has partnered with several foundations to open access to overseas education for indigenous Puncak students.

“We are also providing general scholarships and working to revive schools that were previously closed due to conflicts, ensuring that education continues,” he added.

Beyond education, the Puncak Government is prioritizing healthcare services by conducting regular free medical check-ups in every village, aiming to provide better access to basic health services for local residents.

Through an integrated strategy in education and healthcare, the Puncak Regency Government is confident that the younger generation will grow into high-quality human resources capable of building a better Puncak in the future—reflecting the spirit of Papua for Indonesia.
