Jakarta — Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk officially launched the logistics distribution for the Repeat Voting (PSU) in Papua, held at the Ex Terminal Entrop, Jayapura City. This activity is a follow-up to the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling related to the democratic process in Papua.
In her speech, Ribka emphasized that PSU is an essential part of the constitutional mechanism that must be carried out with integrity, responsibility, and collaboration from all parties. She views the implementation of PSU in Papua as strategically significant as a benchmark for democracy in eastern Indonesia.
“Let us safeguard this process with a spirit of togetherness. Through collaboration among the central government, local authorities, the General Elections Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the TNI, the Police, and the community, we can make this PSU not just a repetition but a proof that Papua can become a role model in strengthening democracy,” said Ribka in a written statement on Monday (August 4, 2025).
Ribka also appreciated all parties involved in supporting the implementation of the PSU, from logistical preparations to security. She reminded that the entire process should be honest and professional, upholding neutrality and avoiding any violations.
Furthermore, Ribka highlighted the importance of neutrality among civil servants and active community participation in exercising their voting rights at polling stations. She encouraged the people of Papua, especially in Jayapura City, to come to the polling stations and cast their votes wisely.
“The large expenditure of funds and effort must be responsibly utilized. The money spent should be used to build infrastructure, improve public services, and enhance community welfare,” added Ribka.
She stressed that PSU is a moment full of hope for the future of democracy in Papua. The spirit and prayers of the people must be maintained so that this process can run peacefully and successfully, free from fraud or negligence.
In closing, Ribka conveyed that true democracy is not just about winning but about respecting the people’s voices and maintaining the dignity of the democratic process itself. She hopes that God will bless and approve all efforts so that the implementation of PSU proceeds smoothly, peacefully, and brings tangible benefits to the people of Papua.
This event was attended by the Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni; the Regional Coordinator of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Iffa Rosita; the Chairperson of KPU Papua, Diana Dorthea Simbiak; Jayapura Mayor Abisai Rollo; and senior officials of the Papua Provincial Government, demonstrating active collaboration for the success of the democratic process in the region.
