Puncak Jaya, Papua – A violent assault allegedly carried out by unidentified individuals (OTK) has once again occurred in the Puncak Jaya region. A civilian, identified as Satu’in (51), sustained severe injuries after being attacked with a sharp weapon on the road from Pasar Lama to Kamp Dokome, Yamo District, on Thursday (July 31, 2025) around 12:30 PM WIT.
The incident began when the victim, who works as a motorcycle taxi driver, was transporting a female passenger from the city of Mulia to Kamp Dokome. While on the way, the victim noticed two unknown individuals following him on a blue MX King motorcycle.
After passing the PT. NIKITA area and heading toward Kampung Unduh, the two suspects forced the victim to stop. Without saying much, one of the attackers suddenly struck the victim’s left arm with a machete. The victim fell, and the perpetrators immediately fled toward Kampung Purbalo, taking the motorcycle and the female passenger with them.
Despite his injury, the victim managed to call his fellow motorcycle taxi drivers. Four of them arrived shortly after and transported him to Mulia Regional Hospital (RSUD Mulia) for urgent medical treatment.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., confirmed the incident. He stated that an investigation is currently underway.
“Yes, we confirm that a sharp weapon assault has taken place. The victim is now receiving medical care at RSUD Mulia. Our task force is investigating possible involvement of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and is pursuing the perpetrators,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal, accompanied by Deputy Head of Ops Damai Cartenz, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum.
Meanwhile, Head of the Public Information Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked.
“Security forces continue to enforce the law. We urge the community to stay alert while entrusting the authorities to handle the situation,” emphasized Commissioner Yusuf.
As of now, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force continues to conduct sweeping operations and investigations around the scene to identify the perpetrators and maintain public order and safety.
