JAYAPURA,– The General Elections Commission (KPU) of Papua Province has confirmed that a total of 2,023 polling stations (TPS) are prepared for the upcoming Re-Voting (PSU) in the Papua regional head election. These polling stations are spread across nine districts and cities in Papua and are scheduled to be used for the gubernatorial election on August 6, 2025.
Diana Dorthea Simbiak, Chair of the Papua KPU, stated this during an interview after a candidate debate held at the KPU office in Jayapura on Wednesday (July 30, 2025) evening. She added that to ensure the success of the PSU, the KPU has also inaugurated 525 members of the District Election Committee (PPD) across 105 districts throughout Papua.
“In addition, we have deployed 2,779 Polling Station Committees (PPS) at the urban village and village levels across all districts and cities in Papua,” Diana explained. She further mentioned that the number of Polling Organizing Groups (KPPS) prepared is 14,161 people, along with 4,046 Limbasnas (Limnas) members serving as observers.
At the same time, Diana emphasized that all election stages are proceeding according to schedule. She clarified that the voter data used is from the November 2024 regional head election, with no changes or additions, in accordance with KPU Regulation No. 132, Amendment 4.
In addition to administrative preparations, the Papua KPU also held a candidate debate involving the pair of candidates, number 1, Benhur Tomi Mano-Constant Karma (BTM-CK), and number 2, Matius Derek Fakiri-Ariyoko Rumaropen (MARIYO). The debate took place during the evening and was part of the series of activities ahead of voting day.
