Peace Message from the Fellowship of Churches in Yapen Islands for Papua’s Re-Election

Yapen Islands, July 31, 2025 – The Christian and Catholic Church Fellowship of Yapen Islands Regency has proclaimed a message of peace while declaring full support for the conduct of the Papua Gubernatorial Re-Election (PSU), urging that it proceed safely, orderly, and in the spirit of brotherhood.

For the Church, the PSU is not merely a political process, but an opportunity for the people of Papua to demonstrate democratic maturity with calm hearts and clear minds. Therefore, all congregations and citizens are called upon to uphold unity, resist provocative issues that could divide society, and nurture the spirit of kinship.

“The Church bears a moral responsibility to safeguard peace. Let us keep Papua serene, harmonious, and united,” the fellowship conveyed.

They also emphasized the importance of supporting election organizers so they can carry out their duties properly, ensuring that the PSU produces leaders who are truly trusted and loved by the people.

Through this support, the Church hopes that every stage of Papua’s PSU will proceed smoothly, democratically, and peacefully—serving as living proof that the people of Papua are capable of preserving harmony amidst diversity.
