Puncak Jaya – A civilian became the victim of a violent assault involving a sharp weapon, allegedly carried out by unidentified individuals. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 12:30 PM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT), on the road from Pasar Lama, Kota Mulia to Kampung Dokome, Yamo District.
The victim, identified as Satu’in (51), a resident of Kampung Usir, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, is currently receiving intensive care at RSUD Mulia due to severe injuries to his left arm resulting from the machete attack.
The incident began when the victim, who works as a motorcycle taxi driver (ojek), was transporting a female passenger from Pasar Lama to Kampung Dokome. While on the way, the victim noticed two unidentified men riding a blue MX King motorcycle following closely behind.
After passing the PT. NIKITA area, the victim continued toward Kampung Unduh. It was along this route that the assailants intercepted him and immediately assaulted him with a machete, striking his left arm. The victim collapsed, and the attackers forcefully seized his motorcycle along with the passenger, fleeing in the direction of Kampung Purbalo.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to contact fellow ojek drivers in Kota Mulia. Four of his colleagues quickly arrived and transported him to RSUD Mulia for urgent medical treatment.
Responding to the incident, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Commander of the Cartenz Peace Operation, accompanied by Deputy Commander Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., confirmed the occurrence.
“Yes, it is true that a violent incident involving a sharp weapon occurred. The victim is currently receiving intensive care at RSUD Mulia. The Cartenz Peace Operation task force is actively investigating the case and pursuing the perpetrators, with indications of possible involvement from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB),” stated Brig. Gen. Faizal Ramadhani.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation–2025, urged the public to remain calm yet vigilant, and to trust the authorities in handling the situation.
“We urge all members of the community to stay calm, but alert. Security forces are committed to taking firm action in tracking down and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” Commissioner Yusuf emphasized.
As of now, the Cartenz Peace Operation task force continues sweeping and investigative efforts in the area to determine the extent of KKB involvement and to ensure the safety and security of the local population.
