Knitting Closeness Through Football, Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz Brings Peace

Mimika, Papua — Children’s fun on Jl. Youth, Kamoro Jaya, New Mimika District, is proof that a sense of security can be instilled from an early age. Wednesday (7/30/2025) afternoon, a different atmosphere was seen in the open field when a group of local children played football with Task Force Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz personnel.

Behind the laughter and jokes, this activity has a much deeper meaning. The warm and spontaneous interaction between the security forces and the young generation of Papua is a reflection of the growing trust in the community, especially after the occurrence of social conflicts that often hit the region.

According to local social observers, activities like this have a positive psychological impact on children. They not only get a healthy playroom, but also begin to understand that security guards are not scary figures, but can be friends, protectors, and even inspirations.

After the game is over, children are given fruit juice as a form of attention and affection. The moment was closed with the raising of a small red and white flag by children, symbolizing the spirit of nationalism that grew naturally and inclusively.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General Police Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that the activity is part of the strategy of building social resilience for the Papuan people through an empathetic approach.

“We are not only present to carry out security duties, but also to build emotional closeness with the community, especially children. In a situation like Papua, this kind of approach becomes an important foundation for a peaceful and united future,” he explained.

He added that this kind of humanistic activity is also the initial bridge to form the public’s trust in the apparatus, which has often been distorted by the conflict narrative.

Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., added that the presence of officers in the community does not always have to be in the form of formality, but can be realized through simple but meaningful interactions.

“We want children to see the apparatus as a part of their lives, not something distant and rigid. From this natural interaction, empathy, a sense of security, and mutual hope grow,” said Kombes Yusuf.

The local community also welcomed the activity. Some parents who were present expressed their joy to see their children playing safely and happily.

Through this kind of activity, the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz shows that building peace is not only through repressive actions, but also through a touch of humanity that touches the hearts of the community, especially the next generation of Papua.
