Timika – The process of evacuating the bodies of civilians who were victims of the shooting carried out by armed criminal groups against Joni Hendra who lived in the Wandoga Kiosk Complex, Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, was carried out on Saturday (7/26/2025). The body was evacuated from Intan Jaya at 07.30 WIT and arrived at Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika at 08.30 WIT, then the body was taken to the Mimika Hospital for further handling before the body was sent back to its hometown in Kp. Bayang, South Pesisir Regency, West Sumatra Province, to be buried by the family. The body will be sent to their hometown in West Sumatra by air at 11.00 WIT.
The entire process went smoothly, thanks to the coordination of various parties, including security forces and local authorities, as a form of final respect for the victim and moral support for the abandoned family.
Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Brigadier General Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz Chief Commissioner of Police. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K M.Hum., expressed his deepest condolences and emphasized that the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz will continue to pursue parties involved in violent actions against civil society.
“We are fully committed to take firm action against the perpetrators of the shooting of civilians. The death of the deceased is a wound for all of us, and we will not stop until justice is served,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Conmissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., added that this evacuation process is a real manifestation of the state’s presence in providing protection and respect to every citizen, especially those who are victims and appealed to the entire community not to be provoked and continue to support law enforcement efforts and peace in Papua.
“We continue to be committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in every case handling. We also appeal to all people to stay calm, not easily affected by information that is not necessarily true, and together create a safe and peaceful situation in Papua,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf.
The evacuation of Joni Hendra’s body is part of a humanitarian responsibility that is firmly held by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz. This operation not only aims to maintain security stability, but also ensures that human values remain upheld in the midst of challenging situations.
