Timika, Papua — The state once again shows its side to the common people through a humanitarian evacuation of the body of Joni Hendra, a civilian who was a victim of the shooting in Intan Jaya. The deceased who was known daily as a trader at the Wandoga Kiosk Complex, Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, was respectfully evacuated by various elements, including security officers who were members of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz.

The evacuation was carried out on Saturday, July 26, 2025, starting at 07.30 WIT from Sugapa, Intan Jaya, and arriving at Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika at 08.30 WIT. After that, the body was taken to Mimika Hospital for further examination and handling, before finally being flown to his hometown in Kampung Bayang, South Pesisir Regency, West Sumatra, to be buried with his beloved family at 11.00 WIT.

This evacuation not only reflects a quick response to the tragedy experienced by civilians, but also becomes a real manifestation of solidarity and the presence of the country in crisis conditions. Joint apparatus that is part of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz, works across sectors to ensure that the victim’s body receives proper handling and is sent respectfully.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz Brigadier General Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that security operations in Papua not only maintain order, but also ensure that every civilian gets justice and protection.

“We understand that this conflict leaves a deep wound for the community. The loss of civilians like the late Joni Hendra is a humanitarian tragedy that cannot be tolerated. Therefore, we ensure that the shooters will be pursued and processed legally according to the applicable rules,” said Brigadier General Faizal, accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adharma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum.

Furthermore, the Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that the state continues to be present and does not remain silent towards the suffering of civil society. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and not being provoked by groups that want to divide the unity.

“We continue to be committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring a sense of security for the Papuan people. We also appeal to all people not to be easily provoked by issues that cannot be accounted for. Let’s build Papua in peace, together,” said Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf.

This incident is a reminder that the prolonged conflict is not only about politics or security, but also about lives, tears, and lost families. With a smooth and respectful evacuation, the state through the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz shows that Papua is not only a field of duty, but also a homeland that must be treated with love, not violence.

The evacuation of Joni Hendra is not the end, but part of a joint determination to bring justice, peace, and an equal sense of humanity for all people of the nation, from Sabang to Merauke, from Timika to the South Coast.
