Timika, July 26, 2025 – The evacuation of the body of Joni Hendra, a civilian who was shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) at the Wandoga Kiosk Complex, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, went smoothly on Saturday morning.
The body was airlifted from Intan Jaya at 07:30 WIT and arrived at Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika, one hour later. It was then taken to Mimika Regional Hospital (RSUD Mimika) for further medical handling before being flown to his hometown in Bayang Village, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. The departure to West Sumatra was scheduled at 11:00 WIT via air transport.
This successful evacuation was the result of close coordination among security forces, local government, and various stakeholders. It served as a final act of respect to the victim and a show of the state’s concern for the bereaved family.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, extended his condolences and reaffirmed the strong commitment to pursue and bring to justice those responsible for the attack.
“This is a humanitarian tragedy. We will continue to pursue the perpetrators and ensure they are held accountable for this heinous act. Justice must prevail,” stated Brig. Gen. Faizal in his official remarks.
Deputy Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, was also present during the evacuation process, providing moral support to the victim’s family alongside other task force personnel.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for the Peace Operation Cartenz 2025 Task Force, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, emphasized that the state’s presence in this process is a reflection of its commitment to protecting and honoring all citizens, particularly those affected by violence.
“We urge the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information. Let us work together to maintain peace and security in Papua,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.
The evacuation of Joni Hendra’s body is part of the humanitarian responsibility upheld by Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, which not only focuses on maintaining security stability but also on preserving humanitarian values amidst challenging circumstances.
