Jayapura – The Central Papua Provincial Government is supporting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) by providing business capital assistance and legalizing cooperative institutions in the region.
Governor of Central Papua, Meki Fritz Nawipa, stated in a press release received by Antara in Jayapura on Friday that UMKM are the backbone of the economy, and therefore, the government continues to encourage business actors in the region to grow and move up the economic ladder.
“In addition to capital assistance, we also provide training and help market the products produced by entrepreneurs, because if UMKM are strong, then the people’s economy remains resilient,” he said.
According to Nawipa, the 3rd anniversary of Central Papua Province is a momentum to revive and advance the local economy through UMKM exhibitions.
“We also provide quality spaces for UMKM players to participate in Car Free Day events, which are held every Saturday,” he added.
He explained that sustainable UMKM development will have a positive impact on community welfare and regional economic progress.
“Therefore, UMKM must continue to receive training, both in product improvement and skill enhancement,” he said.
In this context, the 3rd anniversary celebration of Central Papua Province carries the theme: ‘You Must Be Healthy, People Are Healthy, UMKM Are Resilient, Central Papua Shines’, which reflects the future development direction of the province.
“We hope that through this momentum, all elements of society will step forward together and strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation in building Central Papua,” he concluded.
