Quick Response by Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force to Murder Case in Yahukimo

Yahukimo, Highland Papua —
The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force responded swiftly to a murder incident involving a 30-year-old man named Andi Hasan, which occurred in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency. The victim was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside his home on Thursday night (July 24, 2025) at around 8:10 PM WIT.

After receiving information via Handy Talky (HT) radio communication, the team immediately moved to the crime scene at the DPR Lama Housing Complex and then proceeded to Dekai Regional Hospital (RSUD) to verify the condition of the victim, who had already been evacuated.

Unfortunately, upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was declared dead. Officers returned to the scene to conduct a crime scene investigation, gather witness statements, and collect evidence.

According to one witness, the victim was sitting inside his home when one person armed with a sharp weapon, accompanied by two others, entered and stabbed him in the chest and right back. The victim attempted to flee the house after being attacked.

The witness then transported the victim to Dekai Hospital for medical attention.

An initial medical examination revealed four stab wounds to the left side of the chest and one to the back. Authorities also secured several items as evidence, including a pair of sandals, shorts, and a t-shirt belonging to the victim.

Local police stated that the motive and perpetrators are still under investigation. However, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force suspects the involvement of an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) based on claims made by the TPNPB on social media.

Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, accompanied by Deputy Head Kombes Pol. Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., revealed that initial findings indicate the perpetrator may be affiliated with the KKB led by Elkius Kobak. This suspicion is reinforced by a statement from TPNPB-OPM influencer Sebby Sambom, who publicly claimed responsibility for the killing, falsely alleging the victim was an Indonesian military agent.

“That claim is clearly misinformation intended to mislead the public. The victim was a civilian, not a military agent,” emphasized Brig. Gen. Faizal.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Cartenz Peace Operation, Kombes Pol. Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked by irresponsible rumors or posts circulating on social media or from certain groups.

“We urge all residents in Yahukimo to stay calm but vigilant. Trust the authorities to handle this case professionally. Do not be swayed by unverified information,” said Kombes Yusuf.

He also encouraged community members to support public order and report any information related to the suspects or the incident to authorities.

As of now, the situation in the area is under control. The Cartenz Task Force, together with Yahukimo Police, continues to conduct patrols and an in-depth investigation to uncover the motive and apprehend those responsible for this tragic act.
