Jayapura, July 25, 2025 — The spirit of independence echoed through the streets of Jayapura City, Papua, as thousands of residents gathered to participate in and witness a lively marching parade to welcome the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.

The Friday afternoon event drew participants from all walks of life—elementary, middle, and high school students, youth organizations, and government institutions. Each group showcased unity and creativity in their formations, complete with red-and-white decorations and patriotic chants.

Jayapura’s main roads were filled with enthusiastic citizens who lined the streets, cheering on the marchers. The joyful and festive atmosphere served as clear evidence of Papua’s strong spirit in celebrating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day with unity and love for the nation.

“This shows that Papua is an essential part of Indonesia, and we are proud to celebrate this moment of freedom with joy and enthusiasm,” said a participant from one of the youth groups.

The Jayapura City Government expressed appreciation for the high level of public participation and hopes that this patriotic spirit will continue—not just during Independence Day celebrations, but throughout daily community life.

“This celebration is not just ceremonial—it’s a genuine expression of the growing national spirit among the people of Papua,” said a city official.
