Yahukimo, Papua — The Peace Operation Task Force (Satgas Ops Damai Cartenz) continues its efforts to create a safe and peaceful environment in Papua by conducting a humanitarian patrol in Yahukimo on Wednesday (July 22, 2025), centered around the Sekla Post.
Unlike regular security patrols, this initiative focused on a humanistic and community-centered approach. Personnel greeted local residents warmly, engaged in friendly conversations, and interacted joyfully with children who appeared delighted by the presence of the officers. The overall atmosphere became more vibrant and welcoming.
Commander of the Peace Operation, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Commander Kombes Pol Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that humanitarian patrols are a vital part of the task force’s operational strategy, emphasizing not only law enforcement but also persuasive and heartfelt engagement.
“This humanitarian patrol reflects our real approach—listening, greeting, and being present as protectors, not as a force to be feared. We want the community to feel safe, knowing that our presence is to protect, not to intimidate,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Echoing this sentiment, Head of Public Relations for the Peace Operation Task Force, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that the initiative aims to build a harmonious relationship between security forces and the community.
“We conduct this activity so that people can see and feel firsthand that the Task Force is here to serve and protect. Through respectful and empathetic interaction, we aim to foster trust and strengthen ties between the community and our personnel,” said Kombes Yusuf.
Local residents responded positively to the initiative, expressing appreciation for the officers’ approachable demeanor and non-threatening presence. Many noted the friendliness and openness of the personnel during the patrol.
Through compassion and dialogue, the Peace Operation Task Force continues to demonstrate that true security in Papua is built not on fear, but on trust and connection. Humanitarian patrols serve as an important bridge toward a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Papua.
