Jayapura — A total of 2,875 joint TNI and Polri personnel were deployed to secure the implementation of the Re-Voting (PSU) for the Papua Governor and Deputy Governor Election which will be held simultaneously on August 6, 2025.
The security readiness was marked through the Call of the Troops held at the Cenderawasih Field, Makodam XVII/Cenderawasih, Jayapura City.
The title of this army was led directly by Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih, Major General TNI Rudi Purwito, S.E., M.M., and also attended by Danlanud Silas Papare, Marsma TNI Moh. Mukhson, S.E., M.M., Sahli Polda Papua, Kombes Pol Herzoni Saragih, S.I.K., M.H., as well as the main officials of Kodam and Polda Papua.
In his mandate, Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih said that the Papua Governor’s PSU is an important momentum in the democratic process in Papua. Therefore, maximum, coordinated, and professional security is absolutely necessary to maintain the stability and smoothness of the voting implementation.
“Security stability in Papua is not only a local responsibility, but a part of national security. TNI and Polri must synergize solidly, maintain neutrality, and uphold professionalism in every security step,” said Major General Rudi Purwito in front of thousands of troops.
He also emphasized that all personnel who are in charge of carrying out their duties according to procedures and are not provoked by provocations or actions that can hurt democracy.
Meanwhile, Sahli Polda Papua, Kombes Pol Herzoni Saragih, in his statement emphasized that the National Police is ready to supervise the entire PSU process by ensuring a sense of security for voters.
“We are ready to be present at every strategic point, working together with the ranks of the TNI, KPU, and Bawaslu to ensure that the PSU process runs peacefully, honestly, and fairly. People don’t need to worry,” said Kombes Herzoni.
The PSU of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua in 2025 is scheduled to take place in a number of districts/cities stipulated in the Constitutional Court’s decision. This process is a follow-up to the legal stages that have been passed and are now entering the re-vote phase.
With a full force of 2,875 combined personnel, the security apparatus is committed to ensuring that the Papuan people’s democracy party can run smoothly, safely, and in an orderly manner.
