Arso, Papua — Papuan traditional figure as well as the Chief of the Wikaya Big Tribe of Keerom Regency, Herman Yoku, expressed his high appreciation for the performance of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz which he considered to be consistent in maintaining security stability and enforcing the law against Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in Papua.
According to him, the firm action taken by the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz is a real manifestation of the state’s presence in protecting civil society from brutal actions carried out by the KKB. He assessed that the presence of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz is not only as a security apparatus, but also part of the state’s commitment to create a sense of security and peace for all Papuans.
“We really appreciate the steps of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz which continues to be consistent in enforcing the law against KKB,” said Yoku when giving a statement on Thursday (7/17/2025).
Furthermore, Herman Yoku emphasized that the violent and criminal acts carried out by the KKB group do not reflect the noble values of the Papuan people. He strongly condemned these actions and invited all elements of the community to synergize to maintain order and security in their respective areas.
As a former KKB combatant, Herman Yoku called on the community not to be easily provoked and still support the government’s efforts in creating sustainable peace in Bumi Cenderawasih.
“Let’s take care of the kamtibmas together and not give space to parties who want to destroy the harmony that we have built. Papua is a peaceful land, and it is time for us to return to living in harmony without violence,” he concluded.
