Nabire – Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption in his province. He conveyed this during the opening of the Coordination Meeting on Corruption Eradication through Regional Government Governance for the Second Quarter of 2025, held at the Ballroom of the Central Papua Governor’s Office in Nabire on Monday (14/7/2025).
Striking a tifa drum to mark the start of the event, Nawipa emphasized that fighting corruption is not the responsibility of a single institution alone but a shared duty of all elements of society.
“The responsibility of eradicating corruption does not rest solely on one agency or institution but is the responsibility of all citizens,” Nawipa stressed.
The former Regent of Paniai underlined the importance of synergy and collaboration between institutions, as well as active community participation, in efforts to prevent corruption in Central Papua. He also highlighted the strategic role of internal government supervisory officials, particularly in the area of prevention.
In his address, Nawipa urged regional governments to pay special attention to improving governance in eight areas of the Monitoring, Controlling, and Surveillance for Prevention (MCSP) program. He encouraged government agencies (OPD) to fulfill the indicators and sub-indicators outlined in the program.
He expressed hope that these measures would accelerate improvements in governance, including the management of regional assets (BMD) and the increase of locally generated revenue (PAD), in order to prevent financial losses and strengthen regional fiscal independence.
“Regional governments must remain vigilant against increasingly sophisticated corruption schemes, adopt adaptive behavior in prevention efforts, and stay committed so that government operations can run effectively and bring prosperity to the people,” he concluded.
