Jayapura — The body of Nduga Regent Dinard O. Kelnea, who passed away in Jayapura, will be transported to Kenyam, the capital of Nduga Regency in Papua Pegunungan Province, on Wednesday (16 July 2025). The reception at Kenyam Airport is expected to be attended by local residents mourning the Regent’s passing.
“The body will be sent tomorrow to Kenyam, Nduga Regency,” said Acting Regional Secretary (Plt Sekda) of Nduga, Muhammad Tahir, in Jayapura on Tuesday (15 July 2025).
Tahir explained that upon arrival in Kenyam, the body will not be buried immediately. The burial schedule is still awaiting the family’s decision. “The time of burial is not yet certain. We are waiting for the family. The burial site will definitely be in Kenyam,” he added.
It is known that Regent Dinard O. Kelnea passed away on Monday (14 July 2025) at his residence in Jayapura at the age of 49, after undergoing medical treatment. “Yes, he passed away at home. Previously, he had been treated at Provita Hospital in Jayapura,” Tahir said.
Dinard Kelnea was the elected Regent of Nduga in the 2024 regional election. He also served as Chairman of the Democratic Party Branch (DPC) in Nduga Regency. Dinard was officially inaugurated with his Deputy, Yoas Beon, on 20 February 2025 by the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. During his illness, daily government duties were carried out by Deputy Regent Yoas Beon.
