The Collaboration of the  Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz and Local Farmers Realizes Food Security in Wamena

Wamena, Papua Mountains — Food security is not just a national development agenda, but also a strategic bridge in strengthening people’s trust in the country. This is what is reflected in the simultaneous corn planting activities of the Third Quarter of 2025 which took place in Wouma District, Jayawijaya Regency, on Wednesday (7/9/2525). This activity received full support from the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz of the Wamena sector, which sent down personnel to escort and accompany the community directly on agricultural land.

A total of seven personnel of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz led by Iptu Steve Antony Revo Sumanti, S.Tr.K., joined the personnel of the Jayawijaya Police and the Papuan Satbrimobda. They not only do security, but also integrate with farmers and local governments in ensuring that activities run smoothly and safely from security disturbances.

This corn planting is part of the National Food Self-Sufficiency Program, which is now starting to touch the mountainous areas of Papua. The success of this activity is not only measured from the number of seeds planted, but from how the synergy between the community, local farmers, and security personnel are woven into a harmonious and productive atmosphere.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General Pol. Faizal Ramadhani, M.H., M.Si., emphasized that the role of the National Police in Papua is not only limited to law enforcement, but also as a catalyst in accelerating the equalization of development.

“The presence of the Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz in the community is not only as a security guard, but also as part of the effort to build trust and encourage local-based economic growth. This corn planting is a symbol of joint work between the state and the people,” said Brigadier General Faizal.

Deputy Head of Operation Peace  Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., also added that the involvement of the apparatus in activities like this is a real form of the humanist approach carried in Operation Peace Cartenz.

“We don’t want to just be present when there is a conflict. We want to be present when the community needs support to build the future. Corn is a source of food, and agriculture is the foundation of resilience,” he said.

In the context of security, this activity took place in the midst of vigilance against the potential threat from the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. However, security is carried out in a measured manner and does not intimidate the community. Consolidation and routine patrols are still carried out, but with a persuasive approach.

Head of Public Relations Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged residents not to be afraid and keep in touch with the security forces.

“This kind of activity is proof that Papua is safe to farm, learn, and develop. We invite the public to support each other, trust each other, and immediately report if there is a threat around him,” he said.

This simultaneous corn planting activity is more than just an agricultural activity. It is a real reflection of the hope of the Papuan people to progress with the country. With the assistance and protection of the security forces, the ideal of an independent and prosperous Papua is getting closer.
