Surabaya, East Java — East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, expressed his pride and appreciation for the achievements of 105 students from Papua who participated in the Secondary Education Affirmation Program (ADEM) who successfully passed to enter State Universities (PTN) through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) in 2025.
This achievement is considered as proof of the success and positive impact of the ADEM program in improving the quality of human resources (SDM) from the Eastern Indonesia region, especially Papua and West Papua. From a total of 206 ADEM students graduating from the 2024-2025 school year who studied secondary education in various schools in East Java, more than 50% succeeded in penetrating PTN throughout Indonesia.
“We are grateful for this extraordinary achievement. Behind their success, there is an intensive assistance process from teachers, principals, and trainers in schools that are ADEM partners,” said Governor Khofifah in his statement on Friday (11/7/2025).
Khofifah also emphasized the importance of collaborative work by all parties in guiding Papuan students during the education period. He admitted that the fighting spirit of the students is the main capital in achieving these achievements.
“I am proud because they continue to show their enthusiasm to learn, pursue their dreams, and follow the example of ADEM alumni who are now studying at the best campuses in Indonesia. This is the victory of all of us,” he added.
The Head of the East Java Provincial Education Office, Aries Agung Paewai, explained that the ADEM program is a strategic policy from the central government that aims to realize equal access and quality of education for students from 3T areas (advance, outermost, backward).
“The ADEM program does not just provide educational access to high schools. More than that, this program also equips students with character, national insight, and academic readiness to continue to higher education,” explained Aries.
His party also ensures that ADEM students will continue to receive guidance until they are really ready to go to the world of college. Academic strengthening, character, and independence are the main focus in the implementation of this program.
The pass of 105 ADEM students to PTN in 2025 is a symbol of optimism and new hope for the development of human resources in Papua and the eastern region of Indonesia. Their success in East Java not only prides the region of origin, but also strengthens the national commitment to build Indonesia in an inclusive and just manner.
The ADEM program itself has been running for more than a decade and continues to have a significant positive impact in improving the quality of education and expanding learning opportunities for children from areas that have been less affordable.
