Yahukimo, Highland Papua — The Peace Cartenz Task Force, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yahukimo Police, continues to act swiftly in response to the brutal attack on teachers and healthcare workers that occurred in Anggruk District in mid-March. As of Friday, July 11, 2025, eight suspected perpetrators have been apprehended during a series of law enforcement operations across Yahukimo Regency and surrounding areas.
The eight individuals taken into custody are reportedly members of an armed criminal group (ACG) known as the Eden Sawi Yali Battalion, led by Ohion Helembo alias Bapa Simpan, and directly affiliated with the 16th Regional Defense Command (Kodap XVI) Yahukimo under the leadership of Elkius Kobak.
Among the eight detainees, three have been officially named as suspects: Aris Pahabol, D.H., and N.S. The remaining five are still under further investigation.
Head of the Peace Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Commander of the Peace Cartenz Task Force, Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., affirmed that the investigation will continue until all individuals and networks involved are uncovered.
“We are treating this case with utmost seriousness. All perpetrators will be dealt with firmly and professionally. Acts of violence against teachers and healthcare workers are intolerable, as they are symbols of humanity and service,” stated Brig. Gen. Faizal.
Echoing this, Head of Public Relations for the Peace Cartenz Task Force, Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that the successful identification of suspects reflects the unwavering efforts of security forces to maintain stability in Highland Papua.
“We urge the public to remain calm and not be provoked. Security forces are present to protect the people and will take decisive action against groups that threaten peace,” Commissioner Yusuf said.
At present, the joint investigation team is continuing to interrogate the five remaining detainees while actively pursuing other armed group members strongly suspected of involvement in the heinous attack.
