Yahukimo, Highland Papua — Quick and decisive action was taken by personnel of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, successfully thwarting an attempted act of violence against a civilian by a group of unknown perpetrators in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, on Saturday afternoon (July 5, 2025).
The incident began when Achmad (34), a farmer residing on Jalan Pos Pertanian, was riding his motorcycle through the Seng Pagar Tinggi area around 3:30 PM local time. Suddenly, he was intercepted by three unidentified men, one of whom was wielding a machete. One of the attackers swung the weapon at the victim. Fortunately, Achmad managed to dodge the strike and only sustained a minor injury to his waist. He was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility and is now in stable condition.
Upon receiving the report from local residents, ten personnel from the Peace Operation Cartenz Task Force, led by Bripka Romansya, S.H., were swiftly deployed to the scene. The team conducted area sweeps and active patrols to secure the location and track down the suspects.
Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., emphasized that civilian safety is a top priority. He asserted that the quick response demonstrated the task force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring public safety in Papua.
“We will not tolerate any form of violence against civilians. The Peace Cartenz Task Force is here to ensure that every individual feels safe in their homeland. Our swift response to this incident is a direct reflection of that commitment,” stated Brigadier General Faizal.
Echoing this sentiment, Deputy Head of the Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., highlighted the importance of cooperation between security forces and the community in fostering a safe and peaceful environment.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for the Task Force, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked by efforts to incite unrest.
“The situation is under control. We urge everyone to stay vigilant but not panic. Place your full trust in the security forces,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.
