Sugapa, Central Papua — The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 successfully carried out a law enforcement operation resulting in the death of a member of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Baitapa Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, on Saturday morning (July 5, 2025).
The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by Deputy Head Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that the operation followed intelligence and surveillance on the whereabouts of Enos Tipagau and his hideout.
“A gunfight occurred during the operation at 07:14 local time, resulting in the death of Enos Tipagau,” said Brigadier General Faizal.
Enos Tipagau was a convicted felon sentenced to three years in prison but escaped from Class IIB Nabire Penitentiary. His escape was reported through an official request for assistance from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights. After his escape, Enos rejoined the KKB network operating in Intan Jaya.
According to Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., the Head of Public Relation for Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Enos Tipagau served as the Operational Commander for the KKB’s Kodap VIII in the Tigindoga area and surrounding regions. These areas include Bilogai, Kumbalagupa, Baitapa, Puyagiya, Pesiga, Dapa Hamlet, Tipunggau, and Jalai Village — all under the armed group led by Undius Kogoya.
Below is a list of major crimes committed by Enos Tipagau:
• February 15, 2021: Involved in an armed clash in Mamba Village, Intan Jaya, which resulted in the death of TNI soldier Prada Ginanjar.
• February 8, 2021: Responsible for the shooting of civilian Ramli NR.
• October 26, 2021*: Participated in a firefight in Mamba Village, Sugapa District, causing injuries to TNI member Asep Herman and six-year-old Yoakim Majau, and the death of a two-year-old child, Apertinus Sondegau.
• Ordered Undius Kogoya to deliver firearms and declared his unit ready for an armed assault.
• October 29, 2021: Involved in the burning of shops and an ambulance at Bilorai Airport compound, Intan Jaya Regency.
“This operation is part of our ongoing law enforcement efforts against armed groups that frequently terrorize communities in Intan Jaya,” emphasized Chief Commissioner Yusuf. The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 will continue conducting security patrols in vulnerable areas to ensure public safety and take firm action against any security threats.
