Intan Jaya, Central Papua – Violence has once again erupted in Intan Jaya, Central Papua. A member of the Intan Jaya Police, Bripda Ricardo Pasaribu, sustained serious injuries to his right ear after being assaulted by unidentified individuals (OTK), who are strongly suspected to be part of an Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
The incident occurred at the Palopo Kiosk Complex in Sugapa District on Saturday (28 June 2025) around 6:45 p.m. local time. The victim is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment at Sugapa Regional Hospital (RSUD Sugapa).
Chief of Operation Damai Cartenz, Brig. Gen. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that authorities will take firm action against the perpetrators. “We strongly condemn this act of violence. Law enforcement will pursue and take firm action against those responsible in accordance with the law,” said Faizal in Jayapura on Saturday night.
Following the incident, personnel from Ops Damai Cartenz were deployed to the scene to conduct investigations. Meanwhile, TNI-Polri forces in Sugapa District have heightened security measures.
Head of Public Relations for Ops Damai Cartenz, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, urged the public to remain calm yet vigilant. “Initial suspicions point to the involvement of the KKB. We urge the public not to panic,” he stated.
Security forces remain committed to maintaining stability in Central Papua, particularly in Intan Jaya, which has increasingly become a hotspot for KKB attacks.
