Intan Jaya, Central Papua — Another act of violence has occurred in Intan Jaya Regency. A member of the Intan Jaya Police Resort, Police Brigadier Ricardo Pasaribu, became a victim of assault by unidentified individuals (OTK), who are strongly suspected to be affiliated with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). The incident took place near the Palopo Kiosk Complex, Sugapa District, on Saturday evening (June 28, 2025), at around 6:45 PM local time (WIT).
The victim suffered serious injuries to his right ear and has been rushed to Sugapa Regional Hospital (RSUD Sugapa) for intensive medical treatment.
The Head of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by the Deputy Head of the Operation, Chief Commissioner of Police Dr. Muhammad Firman, S.I.K., M.Hum., stated that firm legal action will be taken against the perpetrators.
“The victim is currently under medical care at RSUD Sugapa. We strongly condemn this act of violence, and security forces will pursue and take firm action against the perpetrators in accordance with the law,” emphasized Brig. Gen. Faizal in a statement from Jayapura on Saturday night.
In response to the incident, personnel from Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 have been deployed to the scene to conduct further investigations and gather additional information. Meanwhile, all TNI-Polri (Indonesian Military and Police) personnel in the Sugapa District have been placed on alert at their respective posts to anticipate potential follow-up disturbances from the armed group.
The Head of Public Relations for Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., urged the public to remain calm but vigilant.
“We are still investigating further regarding the identity of the perpetrators. Initial suspicions point to the involvement of the KKB. We urge the community to stay calm, avoid panic, and remain alert to the conditions in their surroundings,” said Chief Commissioner Yusuf.
Both the Police and Military have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security stability in Central Papua, particularly in Intan Jaya Regency, which has recently become a hotspot for renewed acts of violence by the KKB.
