Intan Jaya, Central Papua – The quiet of Saturday evening (28 June 2025) at the Palopo Kiosk Complex in Sugapa District was suddenly shattered by violence. Bripda Ricardo Pasaribu, a member of the Intan Jaya Police, was rushed to Sugapa Regional Hospital with significant injuries to his right ear after being assaulted by unknown assailants, strongly suspected to be linked to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
Brig. Gen. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, Commander of Operation Damai Cartenz, did not hide his anger. “We strongly condemn this act of violence. Our forces will pursue and bring the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law,” he declared in a statement from Jayapura on Saturday night.
The incident sparked an immediate security response. Personnel from Ops Damai Cartenz were swiftly deployed to investigate the motive and identify those responsible. Meanwhile, security forces from the TNI and Police in Sugapa District have been placed on full alert to prevent further disturbances.
Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, Head of Public Relations for Ops Damai Cartenz, called on residents to remain calm. “We are still working to confirm who the attackers were. Preliminary suspicions point toward the involvement of the KKB. We urge the public to stay calm but vigilant,” he said.
In recent months, Intan Jaya has again become a hotspot for violence. Both the TNI and Police have reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the region’s security so that residents can carry on with their daily lives without fear.
