Jayapura, Papua — During the Interfaith Prayer Gathering commemorating the 79th Bhayangkara Day, Pastor Paulus Tumayang, representative of the Bishop of Jayapura and the Catholic community, delivered a message of appreciation and spiritual support for the police in Papua.
The solemn event was attended by Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige R. Renwarin, Deputy Chief Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani—also Head of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025—as well as various religious leaders from across faiths.
In his address, Pastor Paulus congratulated the Indonesian National Police, particularly Polda Papua, for their commitment to maintaining security and harmony in the region. He praised the interfaith prayer event as a reflection of how policing duties are deeply connected to divine guidance and moral responsibility.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and religious leaders—from cities to remote villages—in offering moral counsel and spiritual support. This partnership, he noted, is essential in shaping a more human-centered and community-responsive police service.
“I represent the Bishop of Jayapura and the entire Catholic community in thanking the police, especially Polda Papua, for their dedication. May their work continue to be blessed by God,” said Pastor Paulus.
He also highlighted the police’s proactive role in preserving religious tolerance and preventing interfaith conflict in Papua—efforts that greatly contribute to building peace in the diverse society.
The event reinforced Polda Papua’s commitment to upholding values of tolerance, humanity, and service, in line with their duty to protect the people and nurture peace throughout the region.
