Merauke — South Papua Province was honored to host Kirab Bangga Kencana in commemoration of the 32nd National Family Day (Harganas) in 2025. The official appointment was carried out by the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) as a form of appreciation for the regional commitment in strengthening family resilience and human resource development in the eastern region of Indonesia.
Kirab starts from the Merauke Regent’s Office and ends at Sota Village, Sota District, right at the zero point of the Sota National Cross Border Post (PLBN), which borders directly with Papua New Guinea. This event was held with cross-agency collaboration, and directly coordinated by the South Papua Provincial Health Office.
Kirab Bangga Kencana is not only a symbol of warning, but also a strategic momentum in strengthening the role of the family as the main foundation of the nation’s development. In addition to kirab, the event was also enlivened with various public services, including:
- Cheap market to support family economic resilience,
- Free health check-up service,
- Population card printing,
- BPJS Health service car, and
- Distribution of assistance to families who have children with stunting conditions, as part of the effort to reduce the stunting rate in South Papua.
Governor of South Papua, Dr. Ir. Apolo Safanpo, ST., MT., also attended directly in this activity and symbolically handed over the pataka kirab Harganas which will later be taken around to various provinces in Indonesia. In his speech, the Governor emphasized that family development is a serious concern of the local government in welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2045.
“We feel honored to be trusted as the host of the 32nd Kirab Harganas. This is not just a ceremony, but a form of commitment that South Papua is ready to be part of the strength of a healthy, prosperous, and quality Indonesian family,” said Governor Apolo Safanpo.
This Kirab is also a strong symbol of national integration, because it is held at one of the outermost points of the country that directly borders other countries. The people of Sota District also welcomed with enthusiasm, showing the spirit of nationalism and concern for family issues and public health.
With the spirit of Bangga Kencana (Family Development, Population, and Family Planning), the central and regional governments continue to strengthen synergy to build families as the main pillars of national development, especially in the 3T region (advand, outermost, and backward) such as South Papua.
