JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed serious allegations regarding the purchase of a private jet, suspected to have been funded through embezzled operational funds and service improvement programs meant for the Governor of Papua. The transaction was allegedly carried out in cash.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the money used to buy the private jet was likely transported directly from Papua in physical cash. “KPK suspects the funds for purchasing the jet were physically brought from Papua, and the payment was made in cash,” Budi said during a press briefing at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta on Monday (June 16, 2025).
Budi further explained that the cash was carried in 19 suitcases and transported by plane by the suspect.
