Jayapura — The Papua Provincial Government together with Bank Indonesia again held the Cenderawasih Festival (Fescen) 2025 as a strategic step in encouraging strong, adaptive, and inclusive regional economic growth. The event, which took place on June 13 to 15, 2025, was opened directly by the Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, in Jayapura, Friday (6/13).
In his speech, Ramses Limbong emphasized that Fescen 2025 which carries the theme “Grow Strong, Grow Inclusive” is a real proof of the government’s commitment to present equitable economic development and involve all elements of society.
“The implementation of this Cenderawasih Festival is part of the efforts to improve Papua’s economy. This activity is very positive because it highlights the superior values of local UMKM actors who are the backbone of the community’s economy,” said Ramses.
This year’s 2nd Cenderawasih Festival presents 60 UMKM actors from various leading sectors, such as culinary, handicrafts, ethnic fashion, and creative products based on Papuan local wisdom.
Interestingly, Fescen 2025 also presents a new approach that is more inclusive. For the first time, the festival committee collaborates with the community of people with disabilities through cooperation with the Indonesian Association of People with Disabilities (PPDI) Papua Province.
“This is a real form of support for development inclusiveness. We want to ensure that all parties, including our brothers and sisters with disabilities, have space to participate and contribute to economic growth,” added Ramses.
This festival is also an event for cultural promotion, financial education, and digitalization of MSMEs, which are fully aligned with the vision of sustainable development in Papua.
With high public enthusiasm and cross-sector support, the Cenderawasih Festival is expected to be not only an annual agenda, but also an important milestone in Papua’s tougher and more inclusive economic journey in the future.
