Cartenz Peace Operation Policewomen Embrace Papuan Children Through Worship at GPDI Nogolait, Nduga

Nduga – A warm and peaceful atmosphere filled the Yericho Congregation of the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (GPDI) in Nogolait, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, as dozens of Sunday school children worshipped alongside policewomen from the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025 on Sunday (June 8).

Around 70 children participated in the spiritual event, which also coincided with the celebration of Pentecost. The moment not only strengthened a sense of togetherness but also served as a space to cultivate hope and trust amid ongoing security challenges in the region.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Police Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Operations, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, said the activity reflects the police’s humanistic approach in reaching out to the community, especially children.

“We want Papuan children to feel that the police are here to bring peace and protection, not just law enforcement,” said Brig. Gen. Faizal during the event.

The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the operation, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, added that persuasive approaches are key to building public trust, particularly in conflict-prone areas.

“Activities like this are a tangible effort to show our human side, so that communities feel secure through closeness, not fear,” he explained.

More than just a religious ceremony, the event marked a strategic step by the police in nurturing emotional bonds with local residents, as part of their broader peace mission in the Papua Highlands region.
